Obituary for Carlos Gutierrez

Carlos Gutierrez
Carlos L. Gutierrez, age 93, resident of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, passed away surrounded by his loving family at home on Friday January 5, 2018. He was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, on November 4, 1924 to Gonzalo Gutierrez and Donaciana Gutierrez. He married his wife, Maggie Gutierrez, August 7, 1944. Carlos was a WWII veteran (CE) and earned the Purple Heart award due to injury in war. He was honorably discharged ranking PFC on April 26, 1946 from the United States Army. Carlos was also awarded the EAMET ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Ribbon.
Carlos was a member of the American Legion Post 81, Chapter 85, in Belen, New Mexico. He loved fishing, buying lottery scratchers and playing the slot machines at the Casino.
Carlos is proceeded in death by his parents, Gonzalo Gutierrez and Donaciana Gutierrez; his loving wife of 63 years, Maggie Gutierrez and daughters, Grace Gutierrez, Helen Saiz, and Connie Saiz; brother, Joe Gutierrez; sister, Ramona Giron and brother, Manuel Gutierrez;
Carlos is survived by his brother, Tony Gutierrez; sister, Mary Sisneros; brother, Gene Gutierrez; daughter, Marcella Gutierrez along with 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
All services will be held in Santa Rosa, New Mexico at Saint Rose Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, January,13, 2018, beginning with a rosary at 10 :00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass. Interment will take place at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Gonzales III, Mario Garcia, Daniel Saiz, Bobby Saiz, Matt Neel, Brandon Gallegos, James Gabaldon, Erik Hernandez, and Juan Diego Sisneros.
