Sam Maestas Jr., age 74, a resident of Rio Communities was called home to our Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Sam was born June 1, 1943 to Sam and Rose Maestas in Los Trujillos, NM. Sam, to all who knew him was a unique and carrying individual who touched the lives of all.
He married the love of his life Doris on June 21, 1960 and raised five loving children. He worked for the railroad as a brakeman the majority of his career. Sam was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. He was always dedicated to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Doris Maestas; his parents, Sam and Rose Maestas; two sons, Samuel and Lawrence Maestas; and Great-Grandson Knox Eylicio.
Sam is survived by his daughters, Gloria Wells and her husband Greg, Threasa Maestas, and Linda Eylicio; grandchildren, Joshua, Jamiee, Kenneth, Samuel, Christopher, Samantha, Jonathon, Lauren, Jocilyn, and Jared; great grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson, Brantley, Mila, Roslyn, and Krew; sisters, Veronica Stacy and Rosanna Montoya; brothers Paul Maestas and David Maestas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Calvary Chapel New Harvest in Los Lunas beginning with visitation at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 am.
