Betty McCan Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Anne on March 19,2024. Betty was born to Joe and Jessie Wilson in Magdalena, NM on May 21, 1946. She attended Magdalena Schools and graduated in 1964. Betty worked, did a little traveling and had lots of fun, as every young woman should! She met her husband, C.B. McCan, marrying on May 10th, 1968 in Magdalena, NM. They were married for 41 years. Their son, Mace, was born on April 1, 1969. He was the light of their life!

Betty was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend! She liked a good joke (naughty or nice), a beer every now and then, and red enchiladas, always! She enjoyed fishing and camping (in her younger days), crocheting, sewing, baking, watching PBS mysteries and reading a good book. She was also a great cook!! Her pies were legendary!! Most of all, she enjoyed being around her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandsons! Her days were filled with happiness just being with them! They are missing her greatly!!

Betty is preceded in passing by her husband, C.B., in 2009; her beloved son, Mace, in October 2023; her parents, Joe and Jessie Wilson; her brother, Richard Wilson, in 1993; and her sister, Joan Russell, in 2019.

Betty is survived by beloved granddaughters, Shaylyn McCan and her partner Richard Harding and their son, Jaxen, of Magdalena, Karah McCan and her partner Jesse Madigan and their son, Hasen, of Magdalena. Her sister, Sybil Cearley, of Albuquerque, NM; and her brother, JC Wilson and wife Lyn, of Elko, NV; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her special ex-daughter-in-law, Zoe Latasa of Magdalena; her sister-in-law, Dixie Sherrill of Junction TX; and her special friends, Arliss Fullerton of Moriarty, NM and Mary Padilla of Magdalena, NM.

As per Betty's request she has been cremated and no services will be held.

Betty was a wonderful person and is terribly missed by all who knew her! We love you, Betty!!! May you rest in peace!!
