Irene Ann Valdez passed away October 9th, 2019, at the age of 78. Irene was born on December 21, 1940, in Mora County, New Mexico to Victor Sandoval and Annie (Gallegos) Bazan. She had five siblings, Rachel, Esther, Virginia, Daniel, and Frank. Irene was married to Demesio Joe Kline with whom she had 7 children. She then married Bernardino “Bernie” Valdez and acquired 11 step children. Irene had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her siblings, Virginia and Daniel; her seven remaining children, Patricia Gonzalez, Geraldine Kline, Dr. Anthony Kline, Jeannette Kline, Clyde Kline, Dolores Escarcega, and Patrick Kline as well as her numerous stepchildren. Irene rejoins her loved ones in Heaven including her parents, Victor and Annie; her latest husband, Bernie Valdez; her siblings Rachel, Esther, and Frank; her daughter, Yvonne Kline; and her grandsons Carlos and Joey Baca.
Irene was loved by many, including neighbors and members of the local senior center in Belen. She loved spending time working outside on her garden, but also enjoyed being indoors as well as she loved to shop and spend time at the casinos. Irene was a talented cook, although rarely did she abide by a recipe! Her famous tamales and biscochitos are irreplaceable. Irene always gave to others without a second thought. Above all, Irene cared for and loved her family more than anything else.
Irene wished to spread eternity among the serene forest and mountains of New Mexico. Therefore, her ashes were spread in Tijeras, New Mexico on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Irene’s loving memory will continue to remain in our hearts forevermore.
