Obituary for Apolonio Sanchez

Apolonio Sanchez
Our beloved Sanchez Family Patriarch passed away peacefully at his Bosque Farms home surrounded by his loving family. The oldest of 16, Polonio was born in Belen and was raised and retired at the family ranch in Priest Canyon. Polonio was an avid big game hunter who mentored many young hunters in New Mexico. He had such a passion for hunting which he shared with his family and friends. Polo loved his hound dogs as if they were his own children. He was so grateful to be able to spend so much of his time at the family ranch with family and friends. Polo was dedicated to his large family and if you were his friend you were also considered family. He was retired from the Ironworkers Union Local #495, where he also mentored many young ironworkers. Polonio was a proud graduate of Belen High School Class of 1955. He was also an Army Veteran.

Polonio was preceded in death by his parents Felipe and Brijida Sanchez, in-laws Roy and Katherine Culver, siblings, Pipo, Fidel, Samuel, Cristobal, Leroy, Ernesto, and Maria Consuelo Sanchez and Viola Lucero. Nephews, Fidel, Chris, and Gilbert Sanchez, Phillip and Chris Kasner, and nieces Barbara Baca and Amber Sanchez. Brothers in Law, Russell Culver, Red Kasner, Robert Hanson, and Manuel Baca. Sister in Law, Nancy Culver.

Polo is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Grace Culver. Children Michael (Jimalene), Yvonne, and Lionel. Grandchildren Jonathon, Andrea, and Logan. Siblings Florinda Kasner, Juan and Corrine Sanchez, Nattie Baca, Felipe and Steven Sanchez, Lorencita Hanson, and Gilberto Sanchez. Brother in law, Willie Lucero, Sisters in law, Hazel Martinez, Sandi, Fabiola and Dorothy Sanchez. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and great friends.

Honorary Urn-bearers will be his two grandchildren Jonathon and Andrea Sanchez.

Services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley, 19381 NM-314, Belen. A Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 11:00 am, and reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date at the family ranch. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service, Los Lunas.
