Obituary for Jimmie Wayne Burdine

Jimmie Wayne Burdine, age 72, Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Rio Communities, N.M., went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on June 2, 2018. Jim was born in Melrose, N.M. on November 10, 1945. Jim joined the United States Marine Corps at the time of Vietnam, but was not able to complete bootcamp training due to a fall from a tower because he went to save a man who got scared at the top of a tower and the man made them both fall. This is one of the first times we can see him putting the salvation of others before himself. Shortly after returning home to NM he found and married the love of his life, Linda, at only 18 years old and the two have been inseparable for 53 years.
Jim did HVAC (heating/air conditioning) for large corporations all over New Mexico and Texas. He was in sales and management as well. In 1994 he went into the ministry as a promise to his mother and committed himself fully to God. He began by being an elder. He then went on to be in the music ministry at various churches in support of the ministry team. Having been the grandson of ministers and the son of a minister it was no surprise to anyone.
In 1998 he became Pastor. During his 20 years he pastored two churches, Harvest Time in Roswell, NM, and Cornerstone Church in Rio Communities, NM, until Jesus called him home.
Pastor Jim wanted eveyone to experience the love of God thru His Son, Jesus Christ and was passionate about loving everyone he came in contact with, sharing the message of the cross.
