Obituary

On Feb 20, 2019 a man of integrity, great faith, and love of God & family won his battle
with cancer. He is now enjoying his heavenly home in the presence of his Savior.
Bill was born on Oct 21, 1946 in Grants, NM and was a resident of Los Lunas. He was a
member of Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by parents: Abel & Juanita Marez; Grandparents: Frank &
Josefita Marez; Brothers: Orlando & Lawrence Marez; Sister: Wilma Rivera and sisterin-law: Louise Silva. He was followed to heaven 3 days later by his beloved Father-inlaw: Luis T. Silva.
After graduating in 1965 from Grants High School he proudly served in the Navy aboard
the USS Zellars-777. After a second tour he was sent to Vietnam where he served for 1
year. Bill was a miner & driller in Grants & also in Ponca City Oklahoma. He worked for the
NM State Hwy Dept, and later retired as Captain from CNM Correctional Facility after 20
years of service. He then went on to serve as Bailiff for Judge Violet Otero.
Bill was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding
of what was important…a love of God and living a life with those you love, treating
others with respect and dignity, and being a Dad to everyone who needed a "Dad".
Of all the people he touched his proudest achievement was his family. He married the
Love of his Life Lora Silva Marez who supported him in all his glory during his heyday,
and lovingly supported him during their last days together; being married 48 years and
having 4 children: Shawn (Tricia) Marez, Liana (Mike) Nasci, Jolene (Tony) Fantauzzi,
and Billie (Everett) Padilla. 14 grandchildren; Jerika (Trent), Mylon (Daphne), Carlo,
Destiny, Shaylee, Nevaeh, Kyle, Makayla, Jacob, Enzo, Torah, Trinity, Giovanni, &
Rhema. 3 Great-grandchildren Isabella Rayne, Wyle and James.
He is survived by his brother Raymond (Norma) Marez; Sisters: Rachael Chapman,
Lorraine (Lance) Poole, Linda (Bobby) Baca; Sister-in-law Irene Marez; Mother-in-law
Billie Silva; Brothers-in-Law: Steve (Angela) Silva, Scotty (Carrie) Silva.
Urn Bearers: Mylon Chavez & Carlo Pillado
Honorary Urn Bearers: The rest of his Grandchildren

My love and respect go out to the Marez family. I have never met a more inviting, loving, caring, and faithful family as you all. Bill was an inspiration to me seeing him as the patriarch, a man of God, and the effect he had on the family. It truly was and remains a faith builder seeing a man act as God would have a man act and the results on those around him. He truly cared for people. You will be missed Bill in ways you may never had expected for the Lord used you mightily. I will miss our talks but will remember your legacy and see it in your family. With Love and with prayer for you all, The Davis Family

I was saddened to hear of the passing of such a wonderful man. I worked with Bill at CNMCF for many years, and I was always impressed with his strong work ethic. He was such a kind soul who possessed such integrity. Bill was also a class act and wonderful example to all who knew him, as to how we should live life. My sincere condolences to all his family. Heaven just gained another angel and I'm sure he's celebrating and reminiscing with all his friends and family who have gone before him. RIP Captain Marez.
