Max Romero, age 74 and resident of Belen, NM passed away on March 12, 2019. He was a Junior High and High School Biology and Chemistry teacher for 25 years in Belen, and a steward of agriculture and animals. He was active with the NM Hereford Association, and very accomplished in all aspects of building a home, farm, and ranch with his own hands and the help of his wife and family.
He was preceded in death by Mother Precilla Romero, Father Boleslo Romero, Brothers Ruben and Eleven Romero, by his Father and Mother in law Adolfo and Nancy Sanchez, and by his Sister-in-law Therese Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife Joan S. Romero, sons Max-Jayde and Manuel (Myles) Romero, daughter Melanie Nancy Romero, Sister Adela & Husband Tayo Garcia, Sister Mary & Husband Gene Gabaldon, Brother Dennis & Wife Marie Romero. Also survived by Brother in laws Dr. Roland K. Sanchez & Wife Elia, Adolf Sanchez & Wife Kathy, Fred Sanchez, and by man endearing nieces and nephews.
All services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m., and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. The Family will be having a private interment at a later date. There will not be a reception after the mass. The family is grieving very much and needs that time to heal, following his prolonged illness of over two years. The family hosted a Birthday party for Max about 6 weeks ago that served as a celebration of his life and gave him the opportunity to see and enjoy so many of his loving friends and family while he was still alive.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448.

Like Mr. Max, may these trees grow tall and strong. Easily spreading their branches wide to provide cover and shelter to all who happen to pass.

A few years ago, we considered ourselves fortunate to have Melanie introduce us to her parents, Mr. Max and Mrs. Joan Romero during one of their visits to Denver. It was easy to see in Max's reflection his love of Joan, his children, and his life as a true American cowboy. We are saddened during these events of life transition. But for Mr. Max, it is a time to "rest easy." The long days of illness are over and we are quite confident, he is once again playing cards and dancing to the melody of a sweet western love song. Joan & Family: It is hard losing our Max. Keep in mind, his preparation on earth is accomplished and his sincere faith has not been in vain. In keeping with his faith, he rests in the arms of God. He is at peace. He was a kind and loving man whose lovely mien let pierce the magic of our world. He brought us light, warmth, love and joy! He was a truly good human being! I always thought of Max as a lotus. The lotus sinks under the quiet water but at dawn rises and opens to awaken a joyous day. He like the lotus awakened a special spirituality that grows toward the light. I sincerely believe Max intended for all of us to carry that light. May he ever be our constant companion! Mortal life disappears in a brief moment, so it seems, then our unconquered joy in which the spirit dwells, embraces us into a loving stillness where hearts ever new reside. We regret not being with you but you are in our hearts and thoughts. I submit sincere condolences on behalf of Sue, our family and myself. May time bring solace to your hearts. Oscar
