To the mother, children, and siblings of Judith Ann Chavez (as I recall, this is always how her father. Robert, called her),
I am from the California Chavez. Judith Ann's grandfather and my father were brothers. On the rare occasions that I would get to see her and her father, he always spoke of her in a very loving manger.
When I was young, I visited my Tias, Lizzie and Clara in Wilmington, CA. There I would see Robert and his younger brother, Billy.
As we grew older, and Robert had his family, starting with Judith Ann, I was able to establish my own relationship with her. I was always drawn to her kindness and inclusiveness of what I called the "Chavez personality." Even though our paths seldom crossed, I always felt a strong connection with her. In fact, I considered her not just a cousin, but a "soul" sister as well.

My deepest condolences to each and every person in her family. I know she will be greatly missed. Since death is a doorway to eternal peace, where those who have gone before us are there waiting, imagine the homecoming embrace that greeted her from her father with his huge outstretched arms!! My prayer for you is that this thought gives you solace and consolation as you adjust to this new phase of your life without her physical presence.
With deep, heartfelt sympathy,
Brunie Chavez, a California cousin
