David C. Bostwick, 78, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM, passed away on July 21, 2019 after suffering a heart attack. David was born in Dillon, MT on July 26, 1940 to Gerald and Marjorie Bostwick. He graduated from Beaverhead County High School and after a year of college, influenced by his older brother Maurice, he entered the U.S. Army National Guard. He was stationed in Oklahoma his first year to receive specialized training. He then attended OCS training in Ft. Knox, KY in 1973. He completed Command and General Staff training with the Guard in Leavenworth, KS. He eventually achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel and retired after 33 years of service. He served as an engineer in the U.S. Forest Service before working as a contractor for Kirtland Airforce Base and managing his own construction company. He was well-known for his skills in wood-working and he was adored in his neighborhood for always lending a hand with yardwork and especially for assisting elderly neighbors with household handyman chores. Dave had a love for his kids and their families, and enjoyed fishing, boating, wood-working, and his dogs. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Dave was thoughtful and generous with his talent, his time, and his love. He never missed an opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to his family in the early morning hours. “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise” were words he lived by. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Marjorie Bostwick, and sister, Myrla Deane, who died at 2 years old. David was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Laura Bostwick (Aug 30 would mark 40 years); three daughters - Revae Bostwick (Koichi Ueno) and their girls, Miana and Aleena; Brenda Kitto (Jeff) and their girls Macee, Jennevieve, and Kate, and great granddaughter, Tehya; and Leigh Bostwick and her son CJ; two step-sons – Robert Martin; and Marshall Martin, Jr. (Gina) and their kids, Taylor and Keaton; five siblings - Maurice Bostwick (Marian), Virgil Bostwick (Harriet), Ted Bostwick (Linda), Edna Jones (Joe), and Dallas Bostwick; first wife, Sandra Pfau; numerous nieces & nephews; and two fur friends - Wiggles and Sammy. David has elected to be cremated and there will be no funeral service or visitation. Condolence messages can be posted at Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel, 2211-D Main St., (505) 866-9992.

Dave and I grew up together in Dillon, Montana and being close in age we did many things together; swimming lessons, hiking, camping and fishing with our family.

At an age of about 8 or 9 we went to a Joey Chittwood Daredevil Show and came home to build our own ramps to jump with our bicycles! We had fun with that but suffered some injuries; skinned arms, knees and hands! Kept Mom busy with first-aid! In high school we got on the ski team and had fun but never won anything medals. Mostly just got out of school for three or four days every year.

We had fun as kids building snow forts in our front yard and having snow ball fights with all the neighbor kids.

We all sure miss you Dave, a good brother, always willing to help others.

My father, Dallas, requested I share these memories of my Uncle David.

Thank you for adding these comments! Hearing about his younger years is something we don't get to do often so we appreciate you taking the time to add these anecdotes!

My brother was one of the nicest person that you would ever want to meet. He always was a caring, giving person and he will be deeply missed. He was the first brother out of 5 to give me a Christmas gift. He went to work while we were young and he spent his money to buy us all a gift. There wasn't any gifts I can remember much of other than that Christmas gift he gave me, which was a pair of red mittens. There wasn't money for gifts as there were 6 of us. So when he thought enough of us to spend his hard earned money for a gift, it meant the world to me. He had went to work for Coast to Coast in Dillon, Montana.

Thanks for adding these insights to his kind-hearted spirit, Aunt Edna!
