On May 16, 2020, R. JoAn Fuller Walde, age 89, was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She was known as a good and faithful servant, a prayer warrior, an adventurer, an inspiration to others, and someone that truly knew how to love unconditionally. JoAn knew howto ‘clown around’ as Cookie the clown, grow amazing apples and peaches, run a church café during the state fair, as well as, feed and clothe others via the Storehouse. She offered her own home to everyone, opening “Ma Fuller’s Boardin’ house” provided comfort for friends and family, respite for challenged youth and starving students. Additionally, she was a very active lady. She hiked the Grand Canyon, rode the Oregon Trail in a wagon train and Cross Country skied amongst other outdoor activities. JoAn was a Harvey Girl, a telephone operator, an Avon Lady, and a Welcome Wagon Lady, as well as other occupations within Sears and Roebuck, Montgomery Wards, and the telephone company. Joan never knew a life without Jesus and she delighted in serving Him through Asbury United Methodist Church. She made sure others had a ride to church, made sure snow was removed from the front doors so people could enter church safely, served on the church’s administrative council, was a member of the Trailblazer’s Sunday School Class, and was a member of the United Methodist Women since 1972. On March 30, 1931, the world was given a very special gift when JoAn was born in Lafayette, Indiana to John and Mary Walton. She was one of Christ’s most special children. She was a delightful daughter, a sweet sister, became a loving and faithful wife, and was an exceptional mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her brother Tom Walton, children Larry (Roene) Fuller, John (Barbara) Fuller, and Diana (Tom) Boyd and her 8 grandchildren: Lance, Shane (Trinity), Troy (Leigh), Jody (Tyson), Adam, Ben, Daniel, and Michael (Monique) and their families, as well as, many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Internment will be held in Winslow, Arizona at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of JoAn, can be made to the Asbury Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. Proceeds from this fund meet unexpected and extraordinary needs, and eliminate serious hardships, that have arisen in people’s lives.
