Charlene Kay Bowman, age 75, a resident of Belen, NM, formally of Bosque Farms, lost her battle with cancer passing away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. She was born August 14, 1944, in Ely, Nevada, the daughter of Rose and Herman (HB) Doerfer. Charlene Bowman is survived by her loving husband of forty-four years, Dr. Marvin M. Bowman, DVM. She was a wonderful wife, partner and friend and her guidance, humor, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed. Charlene, while not having children of her own is mourned by many people she shepherded as if she were an adopted Mother and who will attest that she was the "Best Mom". She was an excellent, avid horse woman spending her life breeding, training, riding, and showing world quality Appaloosa and Quarter Horses, while teaching others how to do so. Charlene was highly regarded within the horse industry. She was a member of multiple local and national horse and dog associations. Charlene was a source of rescue for many unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals, working tirelessly in her local communities to help take care of and place them in good homes. Her favorite dog breed was the Australian Shepherd, working hard to promote the quality of the breed. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Peralta, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. A Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m., and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Albuquerque. A Celebration of Life potluck reception will take place after the graveside at the Bosque Farms Rodeo Grounds beginning at 1:30 p.m. All friends and loved ones are welcome. In lieu of flowers, Charlene and her families wishes are to please make a donation to a animal shelter of your choice in memory of her. For the services Cowboy attire is requested to celebrate the beautiful ideals Charlene and her family represent. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448, where an online guest register is available where condolences may be left at

Saddened to hear of the loss of another member of our “horse family “. Marvin, my condolences, and prayers for your comfort. OJ always spoke so highly of y’all and your great horses. It’s comforting to know she’s in good company with oJ,Jean, and the rest of the horse family that have gone in before us. God Bless.
