Sylvia Montoya, age 70, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico passed away Friday, November 29, 2019. Sylvia retired from the Los Lunas Public School system after many years of service. When she retired, she was not one to sit at home, she got a job working for the Heart Hospital. Eventually, she retired just in time to see her great grandchildren being born and grow. She was short but mighty, a spitfire of a woman, she frequently let you know what was on her mind. She loved her children, John and Andrea more than her life. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her joy in life. She was generous, loving, caring and kindhearted; always smiling and full of life. We will miss her in many ways but there is a bright star shining in the sky watching over us. She was preceded in death by her son, John Michael Chavez, Jr; her mom, Theresa Montoya; father, Jimmy Montoya; and sister Beverly. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea and Martin Chavez; sister, Shirley Russell and husband, Mark; brothers, Johnny Montoya, and his wife, Star, Curtis Lovett, and wife, Mary, and Preston Lovett; Granddaughter, Naomi Madrid, and her husband, Adam; sons, Angelo, Marcus John Michael, Brayden, Adam, Jr. and Julian; grandsons, Derryke Jiron, and his children Payton and Uriah. Her youngest grandson, Martin D. Chavez; and many more friends, nieces, nephews and relatives. A celebration of life will take place on Monday, December 9, 2019, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, with a viewing beginning at 3:00 p.m. and services to follow at 4:00p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel, 2211-D Main St., (505) 866-9992.
