Joe R. Lucero, Jr., age 45, a resident of Belen, passed away on March 21, 2020. Joe was a man with no regrets; he absolutely lived life to the fullest. The saying, “never met a stranger,” couldn’t be truer than for Joe. If you didn’t know Joe at your first meeting, you’d leave the conversation with him knowing all your family or him being your cousin. He loved knowing people and he would do anything in his power to help them. I’m sure Joe is having one heck of a reunion now. He truly missed his family that went before him, especially his Pops. Now, we are left with the honor of knowing a great person and we will miss him dearly.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe Lucero; brother, Prudence Perry Lucero; grandparents, Margret Lucero, Prudencio Maes and Richard and Bertha Lovato; aunts, Viola Lucero Dolores Montano and Margie Tafoya; uncles, Frank Jaramillo and Jimmy Maes; mother, Jeannie Maestas and brother, Jeffery Kear.
He is survived by his children, Andrew Lucero, Jesslyn Lucero and Jeffery Lucero; grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Ellie, Chloe, Averi, Harper and Titus; mother, Viola Maes Lucero; brothers, Joey Lucero and Michael Kear; sisters,Sunday, Debbie, Tammy, Sharla and Cheral; aunts and uncles, Lalo Montano,Toni Jaramillo, Willie Lucero and Ruth Lucero; Godparents, Tino and Marylou Ortega; nieces and nephews, Jose, Katelynn, Kenzie, Jillian, Caleb, Tanara, Samantha, Able, Zach, Leandra, Sara, Isaiah and Joel; extended famil, Ramon and Lorrie Chavez and many loving cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Chapel of the Rio Grande Valley.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, church occupancy will be limited to 25%. Joe will be laid to rest with his father at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Please feel free to share your memories, photos and stories of Joe at Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448.

Joseph, you and your Dad came to live with us over 35yrs ago. I have tons of memories of you two that I'll never forget. I just finished an album i made of you and I found over 70 pictures of you. Majority of them i took. Exspecially when you were younger. Each and every picture tells a story. I will treasure my memories of you and of your Dad-always. God Bless you Joseph...peace. Love, Sharla
