Obituary

Cody Austin Sanchez, age 23, a life long resident of Los Lunas, was sadly taken away from us on May 16, 2020. He was born August 19, 1996, to parents Kevin and Victoria Sanchez. He was a member of Grace Fellowship, CMP, NRA, USA Shooting, VC4HSS, American Legion post 95, Texas Rifle Shooting, and multiple other shooting affiliates and organizations. Cody was vibrant and full of life and had a smile that would melt your heart. At a young age he showed great marksmanship talent; he traveled all over competing the sport he excelled in, winning multiple awards. Cody was recognized by Olympic coaches, encouraged him to follow his dreams of the Olympics. He was sought by many colleges to pursue his talent. He continues to hold a national record in 3P rifle since 2012. His ambition was to be the best at whatever he ventured in, excelling in everything he did. Everyone who met Cody was captured, by his smile and polite manners. Cody will be remembered for his zest for life, giving nature and gentle spirit. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Teofilo Sanchez and David Quintana and his lifelong best friend, beloved dog of 15 years, “Mindy Mouse”. Cody is survived by his parents, Kevin and Victoria Sanchez of Los Lunas; sister, Heather Sanchez and beloved niece Hailey of Las Vegas, NV; girlfriend, Sarah Sisneros; grandmothers, Lourdes Sanchez and Barbara J. Quintana; aunts, Clarice and Sonya Sanchez; uncle, Lee Sanchez “Rosella”; cousin/best friend, Aaron Sanchez; aunts, Ronda Morehead “Devon”, Tanya Dodds “Jared Scheffler, Shannon, Aria, and Elise” “Justin”, and Stacy Watkins. The pallbearers will be, Aaron Sanchez, Dalton Stromey, Alan Garcia, Michael Kenny “Strokey” and Joseph Tapia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship on 3384 NM 47 Los Lunas, NM, with a reception to follow. Services will be livestreamed at www.Gracenm.org. “On Angel wings you were taken to soon; your eternal flame will forever burn.” Gone but not forgotten, #CodyStrong

Cody was one of our most promising young team members at Clark Truck Equipment Co having risen to a skill level where his work was truly valued and appreciated. His smile and polite personality will be sorely missed; his parents and grandparent should be justly proud of having raised a fine human being and we were blessed to have him as a colleague. Cody is my nephew. My best memory of him is when his sister, Heather, my niece came into town from Las Vegas, Nevada. We went to my other nephews house, who has two little girls, and then Heather's daughter, and they ran up to Cody and he swung them around. Of course, when you start something like that it just keeps going. Cody said this is better than working out at the gym and had a huge smile on his face. The girls loved it and him. He had so much of life to look forward to. He would have been a great father. He was just a good person!
