Arlo Starr, age 40, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Wednesday, September 16th, 2020. On a bright and cool October morning (as cool as it can be in Southern California) Arlo came into this world to adoring parents, a brother, two sisters and lots of relatives. I met Arlo during my undergraduate years at Humboldt State University. Back then, he was someone who I could share what was on my mind and get life advice from. He was fierce in his love of his culture, family, friends, and community. Over the years we were not in contact as much, but we always picked up where we left off. Getting to experience Arlo's friendship taught me to not take things too seriously but to also live my life with intent and purpose. I will miss his laughter and jokes, my heart goes out to his family.

I only knew him for a very short time, but he is one of those few persons who renews my faith in humanity. So sincere, so ready to smile, and always intent on helping make the lives of others brighter and sweeter, with a serenity that even now buoys a sinking heart.
