Norma Escobar Obituary

Norma Jean "Jeannie" Escobar was a wonderful individual whose life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and moments that left a mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In Loving Memory of Norma Jean Escobar

Norma Jean Escobar, known as Jeannie, was born on December 12, 1958, in the little town of Los Lunas, New Mexico. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose presence lit up the lives of those around her. On the day of April 13, 2024, Jeannie passed away, leaving behind countless cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her loved ones.

Jeannie's journey in life was one of dedication and boundless love. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Juan and Ruby Barela, her sisters Lydia Gabaldon and Jennie Barela survived by her husband, Mauricio Escobar, her son, Chad Barela, grandsons, Mateo Barela, Damacio Barela, her daughter, Leslie Razo, granddaughter Lydia Razo and her brothers, Melecio Barela, Everisto Montoya, and Carlos Montoya. Despite the sorrows life brought her way, Jeannie's spirit remained resilient and was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

For 32 years, Jeannie devoted herself to General Electric Aircraft, where she worked as an Aircraft Machine Operator until her well-deserved retirement.

Those who knew Jeannie well understood that she had a zest for life that was simply amazing. When she wasn't working, Jeannie could often be found at her favorite casino, indulging in the thrill of a chance of the big win. Her passion for travel took her to all kinds of destinations, where she and Mauricio enjoyed exploring and making memories with loved ones.

Jeannie's talents were as diverse as they were impressive. Her immaculate baking skills delighted all who sampled her creations, and her expertise in crocheting. Above all, Jeannie's greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren engage in sports and activities, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm.

Jeannie was known for her spontaneous road trips that led unforgettable experiences and cherished moments with her family and friends. Her love for life and her presence brought a sense of joy wherever she went.

As we gather to honor the life of Norma Jean "Jeannie" Escobar, let us remember her with love, gratitude, and a deep sense of admiration for the incredible woman she was. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her grace.

Viewing and services to celebrate Jeannie's life will begin on April 24, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe of Peralta. May her memory be a blessing.
